Witches Invade Gardner Village

Crash Landing

Gardner Village in West Jordan, Utah is celebrating its annual Witchfest, and the entire complex is decorated for autumn.  This is a charming place to walk around throughout the year, but is particularly fun on a warm fall day.

In 1877, a large mill was completed on this site.  The mill building and waterwheel are still at the site, along with many historic buildings that have been relocated here.  It is a quaint place to stroll and shop.

Shops at Gardner Village

Gardner Village is home to Archibald's Restaurant and a collection of unique shops.  The brick-paved pedestrian walkways make it easy to get around to the shops and restaurants.  Some of my favorites include the Village Quilt Shop, Storybook Nook, the Naborhood Bakery, and Sweet Afton's.

Stop in at Sweet Afton's to see a wide variety of candies, and while you are there, sample the fudge.  This time I brought home the divinity and pumpkin cheesecake varieties.

Batter up!

Pumpkins, hay bales, and cornstalks, oh my!  There are many great places to take photographs all around Gardner Village.  Many moms were out taking Halloween photos of their children.

From mid-September through the end of October it is all about the witches at Gardner Village, and they are everywhere.

Of course, some witches get around better than others.

With events such as Breakfast with a Witch, Witches Night Out, Witchapalooza, and Ride To a Witch, there is something for everyone.  Some of these events require tickets.  Of course, if you wish to avoid crowds, stop by early in the week, and earlier in the day.  Evenings and weekends bring many people to this popular event.

Clever signs dot the village

However, if you are willing to brave the crowds and parking, you are in for a treat.  In previous years, we have seen witches parading, people exhibiting live bats, and music groups performing.  This is a wonderful way to celebrate autumn, harvest, and Halloween.

And if your legs get tired, you may even find a bench and a friendly invitation to sit-a-spell.

Happy shopping!
